Macedonia bids farewell to its peacekeepers

Macedonia yesterday bid farewell to the 11 Macedonian Army members who were killed in the helicopter crash near the village of Blace, Katlanovo region, on Saturday as they were returning from the "Althea" peacekeeping mission in Bosnia-Herzegovina.

Lieutenant Colonel Toni Spasovski, Master Sergeant Toni Davitkovski, Senior Sergeant Janko Sirik, Sergeant Aleksandar Taskovski, and Sergeant Aleksandar Vasik were buried with full state and military honors in "the Alley of the Great" at the City Cemetery "Butel" in Skopje. Major Goran Ristovski was buried at the cemetery in Kamnik, Skopje region, while Squad Leader Zlatko Veljanovski was buried in Dracevo, Skopje. Sergeant Miki Ivanovski and Captain Brane Spasovski were buried in Kumanovo, Master Sergeant Slavco Vasilev was buried in Strumica, while Captain Igor Gjoreski was buried in Gevgelija.
