Over 30 doctors from public and private health institutions and members of the first- and second-instance commission deciding on applications for disability pensions were taken into custody Monday under the suspicion of taking bribe for granting disability pensions in return.

Criminal charges were pressed against them for criminal association, abuse of official position and falsifying documents. The police drive “Metastasis” began over a year ago and used special investigative measures. With a court order, the suspects were taped and caught red handed. The suspects decided some cases through the commission and others by directly issuing fake certificates. Some applications were being put off indefinitely until bribe was extorted.
