Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski did not attend the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the formation of the European Union in Berlin that was organized by the European peoples' parties because he had too many obligations at home, government Spokesman Ivica Bocevski said.
"The attendance or nonattendance at a manifestation, that is, a celebration is not an indication of how important this agenda is to the prime minister. Macedonia's top priority in the process for EU integration is realization of the projects from the European partnership and European agenda and speeding up of the ratification of the national strategy for adoption of the European legislation," Bocevski stated.
He said that the strongest signal that Macedonia would enter the EU is the fact that the country will fulfill the obligations that it assumed; attendance at some manifestation will not secure this.
