GJORGJI TRENDAFILOV ELECTED LEADER OF VMRO-NP

Gjorgji Trendafilov was elected leader of VMRO-People's Party (VMRO-NP) at the party congress on Sunday. Trendafilov was elected in the second round of the elections. A total of 164 of the 317 delegates who voted gave their support to Trendafilov, while his opponent Vesna Janevska won the support of 152 delegates. There was one invalid voting slip. This was VMRO-NP's first congress since this party was formed three years ago, the media reported.

A total of 318 delegates voted in the first round of the elections. Trendafilov won 128 votes in the first round, Janevska won 150 votes, while Marjan Dodovski received the support of 38 delegates. There were two invalid voting slips.
