VMRO-DPMNE is willing to resolve the two contentious issues from the political dialogue with BDI - the law on use of the languages and resolving of the status of the individuals who participated in the conflict in year 2001 - but only if the resolution does not digress from the Constitution and the Framework Agreement. VMRO-DPMNE sources said that Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski would not sign a document that would obligate BDI leader Ali Ahmeti and him to resolve the open questions within certain deadlines.
"Both the law on use of the languages and the way in which the status of the participants in the conflict in year 2001 will be resolved must not depart from the frames of the Constitution and the Ohrid agreement. This means that BDI's demand for use of the Albanian language in all state institutions at both central and local levels is absolutely unacceptable. A law for the NLA fighters is out of the question, as well. The belief that these individuals should be resocialized via a special law is completely wrong. The Constitution and laws define precisely which individuals can be on welfare. There are also centers for welfare support, which will determine which participants or families of participants in the conflict should be on welfare," senior VMRO-DPMNE sources said. They stressed that these issues should be resolved in the Parliament.
