President Branko CrvenkovskiPresident Branko Crvenkovski said over the weekend that in the course of this week he would convene the Council for National Security to consider the newly arisen situation regarding Kosovo and the rising rumors that the Serb province may be partitioned as a solution to its final status.

"Kosovo's partitioning is one of the worst possible solutions to its future status, the territory of Kosovo and the whole region. It would mean drawing of new borders only down ethnic lines. In this way the hardliners, who undoubtedly exist in all the countries, would be encouraged to take action," President Crvenkovski said.
