The Council of Europe called for a consensus on the Election Code. Macedonian parliamentarians Andrej Zernovski from LDP and Oliver Sambevski from VMRO-DPMNE attended the session of the Monitoring-Commission of the Council of Europe, which discussed Macedonia's democratic progress.

Zernovski said that the European officials sharply attacked the Government's amendments to the Election Code, arguing that they have an effect on the architecture of the Ohrid agreement and they endanger the functioning of the Badinter principle. On the other hand, Sambevski asserted that the Council of Europe welcomed the Government's initiative for inclusion of more ethnic communities in the political system. It was recommended that the Parliament should ratify this law with a consensus from all political parties.
