Macedonia's National Coordinator for NATO Nikola Dimitrov presented Macedonia's Annual Program for NATO Membership in Brussels on Thursday.
Dimitrov said all NATO officials expressed hope this would be Macedonia's last annual program for NATO membership. In his view, in spite of the many conditions the Alliance sets, the ongoing reforms will be sufficient for the country to hope to be admitted in April next year.
"We have a lot of friends here and if we take the right steps over the next few months, we'll be part of NATO," he said.
Dimitrov explained that Macedonia had been required to complete its judicial reforms, and continue fighting corruption. NATO officials concluded that last year was more successful in this regard, considering that many more court cases were finalized.
