EUROPEAN UNION SHOCKED AND DISAPPOINTED BY MACEDONIA

Dnevnik and Utrinski Vesnik correspondents from Brussels report that European Commission representatives are shocked and disappointed by the latest events in Macedonia.

EU diplomats condemned the violence against journalists and they called on Interior Minister Gordana Jankulovska to investigate the conduct of the members of the Alfa police unit. All associations of journalists condemned the violence against the journalists from A1 and Alsat.

As a sign of protest, all journalists and cameramen walked out of Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski's press conference today, at which the prime minister intended to talk about the country's progress as regards the business regulations, Radio Skopje informed. The press conference was rescheduled for 14:00 and it was broadcast integrally by Radio Skopje. The prime minister expressed understanding for the journalists' revolt and gesture and he informed that the police are taking all measures necessary against the individuals who attacked the journalists. He said that five police officers were suspended this morning and that criminal charges were filed against the individual who hit the journalist from A1 Television.
