admin1 – October 19, 2005 – 8:51am

The extermination of all poultry in the Bitola village of Mogila will start today by order of the State Veterinary Institute, the media report. These measures are taken because one suspicious sample of an infected chicken was detected upon the analysis. In order to establish an accurate diagnosis, this sample was sent to London. The presence of influenza was established in this sample, but it is not sure whether the influenza in question is the H5 virus. A buffer zone of 3-kilometer radius has been introduced around the village of Mogila, and all entry and exit from this village is prohibited.
