Kosovar Xhavit Morina (44), who escaped from the Kosovo prison Dubrava recently with six other prisoners, was killed in the Tetovo village of Odri yesterday morning in an armed confrontation between two criminal groups, the Interior Ministry informed.

According to unofficial information, Agim Krasniqi's group and former UCK members, which included Morina, alias Commander Drenica, were involved in this armed confrontation. There is speculation that escaped convict Lirim Jakupi-Nacist was together with Morina and that two other individuals were wounded in the skirmish.

The Interior Ministry was not able to confirm this information, explaining that they are establishing the motives and identity of the individuals who were involved in the armed confrontation.
