MACEDONIA EXPECTS DIGNIFIED AND JUST RESOLUTION

UN mediator in the name dispute Mathew Nimetz will come to Skopje in two weeks to hear the Macedonian authorities' alternative resolution for those parts of his proposal that were unacceptable to Macedonia, diplomatic sources told Vecer.

The Macedonian state leadership rejected Nimetz's suggestion that Macedonia agree to a name for international use that would be different to the country's constitutional name. The first point of Nimetz's proposal states, "the constitutional name of the second side (Macedonia) will remain a constitutional name". But in the second point, Nimetz wants "the second side (Macedonia) to use a name for international use that would be different to its constitutional name, so as not to cause confusion between the name of the second side (Macedonia) and the name of the province of the first side (Greece), which is part of the geographic whole Macedonia".
