The leaders of the big political parties in the country held separate meetings with U.S. Ambassador to Macedonia Gillian Milovanovic. The aim of these meetings was to assess Macedonia's candidature for membership in NATO in light of the internal political confrontations and tensions in the country.

The U.S. Embassy confirmed that these meetings were held and they informed that the ambassador and the party leaders talked about how Macedonia can best fulfill the necessary criteria for membership in NATO.
