"It would be very good for the name dispute with Greece to be resolved, considering that this issue is using up a lot of diplomatic energy that could be used on other issues," British Ambassador to Macedonia Robert Chatterton Dickson said in the interview for Radio Free Europe. "Britain is Macedonia and Greece's friend, and it would really like to see this problem resolved. The important thing is for both countries to cooperate seriously with UN mediator Mathew Nimetz," he said.

"I hope that this problem will not slow down the process for Macedonia's integration into the EU. It is clear from the Interim Accord signed in year 1995 that Greece vows to not bloc Macedonia's progress to the international organizations," the ambassador said. He believes that the important thing is to make a difference between the name dispute, which is a bilateral issue, and the EU integration issue, which is very important for Macedonia and the whole region.
