MACEDONIA WILL BE EXTENDED INVITATION, WHETHER GREECE LIKES IT OR NOT

Macedonia will be extended an invitation for NATO membership whether Greece likes it or not. This is the latest information from diplomatic sources from Brussels, after the negotiations in New York proved a fiasco, reports Utrinski vesnik's Brussels-based correspondent Slobodanka Jovanovska.

According to unconfirmed information, the document from the meeting of ministers of foreign affairs set to take place on Thursday will clearly state that the three countries will be extended an invitation for membership, that the name dispute between Macedonia and Greece is not an integral part of the Action Plan for membership, and that the resolution of the name issue is not a precondition for extending an invitation, but for the actual admission. This is the conclusion of the legal experts of NATO following the insistence of Athens that the good neighbor relations should be a condition for Macedonia's invitation at the summit in Bucharest, something that Greece managed to incorporate in all the documents of the Alliance over the past two months, singling it out as a principal argument for its announced veto.
