“The upcoming parliamentary elections are a very important test for the country. They are also one of the additional benchmarks that the country will have to fulfill,” EU Ambassador to Macedonia Erwan Fouere said, commenting on the recent armed incidents in the country.
“Such incidents are really disturbing because every bullet fired is a bullet directed at many things,” Fouere said. He added that such incidents were also registered at the parliamentary elections in year 2006. However, Fouere stressed, now “we expect the state to demonstrate bigger maturity in organizing elections, which in fact will be fair and democratic”.
The U.S. Embassy in Skopje also reacted to the recent incidents.
