Twenty Western diplomats, including a few U.S. Ambassadors from the region as well as former assistant secretaries of state, sent a letter to NATO Secretary General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer demanding immediate admission of Macedonia into NATO. They raised concern over the situation in Macedonia following the summit in Bucharest and insist that Macedonia be invited to join the Alliance as soon as possible.
