meeting in the Macedonian Foreign Ministry

The international community representatives in Macedonia want the Government to take preventive measures to ensure that the election violence is not repeated. The international monitors already stated that they are not satisfied with the response of the state institutions on 1 June. This message was conveyed to Macedonian Foreign Minister Antonio Milososki and Interior Minister Gordana Jankulovska by the ambassadors of the EU and NATO member countries at yesterday’s meeting in the Macedonian Foreign Ministry.

The Interior Ministry stated that the development of events on election day does not depend only on the police, but on the political parties as well.

EU Ambassador to Macedonia Erwan Fouere called on the police yesterday to act apolitically and to punish all individuals involved in the incidents.
