For the first time in the talks on the name dispute, Macedonia raised the issues of rights for the Macedonians deported from Greece and rights for the Macedonian minority in Greece.
At the meeting with UN mediator Matthew Nimetz in Skopje on Friday, the Macedonian Government asked that the issues of double citizenship for the Macedonians deported from Greece, return of their property in Greece, and recognition of their cultural and national particularity be included in the talks on the name.
UN mediator Matthew Nimetz confirmed during his visit to Skopje that if either of the two sides involved in the talks wants to discuss issues that are not related to the name or the Interim Accord, he, as mediator, must put these issues on the agenda.
