Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski stated yesterday that he hopes that President Branko Crvenkovski would have a chance in New York, in the talks on resolving of the name issue, “to arrive at some resolution and to offer this resolution to the public in the Republic of Macedonia”, the media report.

Responding to a journalist’s question on whether the state leadership has an identical position as regards the name dispute with Greece and whether this is the reason why no meeting was held between President Crvenkovski and him prior to the president’s departure for New York, Gruevski stated: “There is no change in the position on the name from the previous meetings. The position is clear and well known. There was no need for a new meeting because we stressed our positions on a number of occasions so far. Thus, it is very clear. Crvenkovski knows well what our positions are and we know his positions. We are waiting to see what Crvenkovski will discuss. Maybe he will be able to achieve something and offer this as a resolution for the problem with the name,” Gruevski stressed.

He stated that Foreign Minister Antonio Milososki would also leave for New York.
