If a final agreement is reached as regards the name dispute with Greece, the people will decide whether this resolution should be accepted, Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski stated at a press conference on Tuesday, responding to President Branko Crvenkovski’s statements following the meeting on Monday. Gruevski stressed that Crvenkovski shamed the country with such level of communication, the media report.
“The talks led under the mediation of UN mediator Matthew Nimetz are in their final phase. These talks are important for our country. These are not talks via which someone should build his or her political career and promote him or herself into future leader of the opposition. These are also not talks that one should bargain with, with representatives of the international community, by promising them that when he or she comes to power, they would resolve this issue immediately,” Gruevski noted. He underlined that, no matter what agreement Crvenkovski reaches and regardless of the president and his positions, the people will decide whether or not to accept the possible final proposal.
