The Macedonian Government adopted a decision late last night to recognize the independence of Kosovo. Macedonian Foreign Minister Antonio Milososki stated at a press conference that Macedonia would establish diplomatic relations with Kosovo soon. He explained that this decision is the result of exhaustive political appraisal and he assessed it as a good basis for permanent stability and new Euro Atlantic perspectives of the region.

Previously the Macedonian Assembly ratified the resolution on recognition of Kosovo with 85 votes in favor. BDI and PDSH welcomed this decision, while the Democratic Party of Serbs appealed to the parliamentarians not to adopt this resolution.

The decision on recognition of Kosovo was made in coordination with the Montenegrin Government, which also recognized Kosovo’s independence on Thursday.
