Macedonia will not reject in full UN mediator Matthew Nimetz’s new package of ideas for resolving of the name dispute, but it will submit remarks about a number of sections in this proposal.

According to unconfirmed reports, most of the remarks will be about the proposed alternative concerning the Macedonian nationality and language, that it, the proposal that the nationality and language be called nationality and language of the Republic of Northern Macedonia. Macedonia demands a clear position on this issue and it will not back down from the position that the language and nationality should remain “Macedonian”.

President Branko Crvenkovski, Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski, and Macedonia’s representative in the talks on the name dispute Nikola Dimitrov agreed at their meeting on Thursday that they should meet again next week to coordinate their positions and build a joint position on Nimetz’s latest proposal.
