Macedonia’s representatives in the talks on the name dispute, Nikola Dimitrov and Martin Protoger, departed for New York on Tuesday to meet with UN mediator Matthew Nimetz and convey Macedonia's coordinated and clear position as regards protection of the national interests.

“Macedonia remains committed to the talks, but it will defend its national interests,” Macedonian Foreign Minister Antonio Milososki said. Milososki, together with Macedonian Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski, met with Stuart Jones, U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs, in Skopje yesterday. But Milososki did not reveal Macedonia’s position on UN mediator Matthew Nimetz’s last package of ideas for resolution of the name dispute nor did he reveal any details from the meeting with Jones.
