Imer Ismaili, professor at the Stoel University, assessed that President Branko Crvenkovski's appeal for the leading European states to get more involved in the resolving of the name dispute is an indication that the United States of America would soon transfer the complicated name dispute to the European Union.

Professor Dimitar Mircev does not think that the president’s appeal indicates smaller engagement of the United States and bigger involvement of the European Union. Mircev noted that this dispute should be resolved, not because there is any security threat to Macedonia, but for stabilization of the region.

International law professor Dimitar Bendevski does not believe that this appeal will change anything or that it will bring Greece to reason.

Professor Ljubomir Frckoski assessed that the appeal for the leading European countries to dedicate more attention to this dispute is an attempt to find a life saving vest at a time when, as he stressed, the country is entering into a position of isolation.

Deputy Foreign Minister Zoran Petrov argues that the moment that Greece vetoed Macedonia’s accession to NATO, this bilateral problem became a multilateral problem.
