Bulgaria could turn into a second Greece for Macedonia by conditioning its accession to NATO and the EU. Despite the support expressed by the Bulgarian state leadership via official statements, experts advise that Macedonia not turn a blind eye to certain messages, such as the one that Macedonia would become a member of the EU only when it returns the Strumica region to Bulgaria, or to Sofia’s attempts to become a factor in the talks on the name dispute under the excuse that the geographical region Macedonia lies on the territories of all three states (Macedonia, Bulgaria, and Greece).
