FIRST ELECTION COMMISSION RESULTS: IVANOV IN THE LEAD

Ruling VMRO-DPMNE presidential candidate Gjorge Ivanov is in the lead, according to the official information from the State Election Commission. After having processed data from 16.20 percent of all polling stations, the Commission said Ivanov was far ahead of his rivals, independent candidate Ljube Boskoski and SDSM's representative Ljubomir Frckoski, between whom the difference in votes is minimal. Ivanov polled 19,266 votes, or 38.49 percent, Frckoski 9,211 votes, or 18.40 percent, and Boskoski 8,658 votes, or 17.30 percent.
VMRO-DPMNE held a press conference first, saying its presidential candidate Gjorge Ivanov was far ahead of all other presidential contenders. The ruling party also said it won the mayor's posts in Prilep, Bitola, Valandovo, Novaci, Probistip, Sveti Nikole, Gradsko, Gjorce Petrov and Butel in the first election round.
Opposition SDSM said it won the mayor's posts in Kumanovo, Strumica, Berovo, Vranestica and Debarca in the first election round. It also said it was in the lead in the Skopje municipalities of Aerodrom, Karpos and Centar.
