Prime Minister Vlado Buckovski sent a letter to the prime ministers of all EU member countries, stressing that Macedonia deserves to become a candidate for membership and that the state is prepared to continue the historic march forward. Repeating the positive qualifications mentioned in the European Commission's assessment, the Macedonian prime minister stressed in the letter that, from recipient of European security guarantees, Macedonia has turned into a country with the status candidate for EU membership. The Western Balkans will be faced with big changes and in this context, Macedonia's progress will contribute to long-term stability in the region. Prime Minister Buckovski stressed that Macedonia proved that it is a functional multiethnic democracy.
