The relations between Macedonia and Albania are good, but effort should be made to improve the economic ties, said the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Macedonia and Albania, Antonio Milososki and Ilir Meta in Tirana, Albania, Monday.
Adopting the European principles of dialogue, friendship and mutual understanding, Macedonia and Albania make the most notable contribution to the European future of the region, Minister Milososki said in his address at the diplomatic academy of the Albanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Albanian Foreign Minister Meta reiterated that Albania backed Macedonia’s accession to NATO and that it hoped that all obstacles to the country’s integration with the Alliance would be overcome.
“We hope that the reforms in Macedonia that accelerated its Euro-integration process will continue,” Minister Meta said, arguing for full implementation of the Framework Agreement, which in his view is going to expedite the process of Macedonia’s integration into the EU.
The key projects for both countries remain to be the construction of Corridor VIII and the promotion of trade relations.
