German MEP Doris Pack is not going to press charges against President Ivanov following his telephone explanation that it was reporters who misinterpreted his recent briefing in Ohrid. It was reported then that MEP Pack told Ivanov that in 1995 Macedonia missed the chance to start talks with the EU and NATO under the reference of FYROM. She denied having said that and threatened with a lawsuit. President Ivanov suggested journalists to investigate and find out why Macedonia refused the offer.
According to Ivanov, in 1995 Macedonia missed the chance to resolve the present-day problem and integrate into the EU and NATO in a much less painful way and when “law was on its side”.
“Now we have two additional conditions to meet: to negotiate about the name and to use the provisional reference. Nimetz is wisely keeping silent and takes steps very cautiously considering that the outcome of the resolution of our problem will be an example for resolving similar problems in the future globally. Furthermore, even if we find a solution, what is the guarantee that Greece is going to honor it?” the president openly asked at the briefing, Dnevnik reports Wednesday.
