The Lights for Rights campaign strives to underscore this year’s focus World AIDС Day on Universal Access and Human Rights by encouraging people in cities around the world to dim the lights on key landmarks to remember the devastating affect AIDS has had on us all, and to turn back on the lights to illuminate the fundamental rights we all share.
The traditional marking of the World AIDS Day - 1 December 2010 (Wednesday) - will be organized through joint efforts of the United Nations Theme Group on AIDS (financially supported by UNAIDS, UNICEF, UNHCR, WHO, UNFPA), in collaboration with the National HIV/AIDS Coordinator and NGOs delivering prevention, treatment and care services for most-at-risk populations and people living with HIV. The partnership also includes the group of people living with HIV/AIDS “Stronger together”, Y-PEER Network, TAKSIRAT Festival and the Ministry of Health. The slogan of this year campaign is:
