European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso stated in the Macedonian Parliament this evening that by granting Macedonia the candidate country status, the EU showed that it had great expectations from the country. "Political, legal and economic criteria should be met for you to attain the more advanced stage. That depends solely on you," Mr. Barroso said in the Parliament. In his address, he underlined that Macedonia set the pattern for the other countries of the region to follow and that the regional cooperation was priority for the economic development of them all. In this regard, Mr. Barroso asked that all the countries of the region support the successful resolution of the Kosovo issue, as a prerequisite for successful development of the entire region.
