MARCH INDUSTRIAL PRODUCTION RISES 1.7% FROM 2003 AVERAGE

Industrial production in March 2006 increased by 1.7 percent from the average of 2003 as a result of the increase in the groups of energy by 19.4 percent and intermediate goods, except energy, by 13.4 percent.

Production in the manufacturing industry and electricity, gas and water supply in March 2006 declined by 3.0 and 17. 2 percent respectively from the 2003 average.

Industrial production in March 2006 rose by 13.2 percent relative to February 2006 and by 1.9 percent compared with March 2005.
