VMRO-DPMNE interpreted BDI leader Ali Ahmeti's meeting with the former commanders of ONA (National Liberation Army) as direct blackmail intended to enforce continuation of the talks for BDI's entry into the Government. Nikola Gruevski's party VMRO-DPMNE is categorical that they would not yield under Ahmeti's pressure. They want BDI to distance itself from the threats of kalashnikovs and rebellion of the Albanian people before the negotiations for the formation of the Government could continue, "Dnevnik" writes.

Ahmeti met with the commanders from the war in Macedonia in year 2001 in the party's headquarters in Mala Recica on Saturday, where he told them that he would represent the voters who voted for BDI in a responsible manner.

BDI rejected VMRO-DPMNE's demand that it distances itself from the statements of its officials, who said that there would be kalashnikovs and rebellion of the Albanian people if BDI remains in the opposition. BDI Spokeswoman Ermira Mehmeti said that consensual democracy should function in Macedonia, in accordance with the Framework Agreement.
