MACEDONIA MUST FULFILL OBLIGATIONS IF IT WANTS TO ENTER NATO

NATO wants to see Macedonia in its ranks, but it believes that we have still not fulfilled the obligations that are expected of us. This is the message that Macedonian Foreign Minister Antonio Milososki received during his two-day visit to Brussels, where he met with the ambassadors of the biggest member countries of this organization in the NATO Head Office.

"We received clear support for our aspiration for membership in NATO and we were told at all meetings that the door is open. I received assurances that NATO wants us to be their member. But they are still not saying this explicitly because they believe that we still have a lot of work to do," Minister Milososki told "Dnevnik".

The foreign minister met with the US, Italian, German, French, Spanish, and UK ambassadors, as well as NATO Deputy Secretary General Alessandro Minuto-Rizzo and James Pardew, deputy assistant to the secretary general for NATO operations. At these meetings Milososki repeated the Government's commitments toward fulfillment of the required reforms in the spheres of the economy and the fight against corruption, and he expressed hope that at the summit in Riga NATO would give Macedonia an encouraging signal for membership.
