There are no threats to the security of the territorial integrity of Macedonia. But the approaching of the date for resolution of the status of Kosovo brings certain risk, Macedonian President Branko Crvenkovski said yesterday following his meeting with the directors of the Intelligence Agency. The president asked the intelligence officials for assessments on the development of the situation in the region, in the eve of the completion of the process for the defining of the final status of Kosovo.

"We are the nearest neighbors and we should follow these events carefully and alertly and, if necessary, we should act preventively. For a long time Pristina has been asking the world to recognize its independence. We will build a position on this issue when the international community defines and tables its proposal for the future of Kosovo. As member of the UN, we have an obligation to observe the decisions and positions of the international community," Crvenkovski said.
