Romania offered support for membership in NATO, schooling of Macedonian Army officers, and technical support in the demarcation of Macedonia's border toward Kosovo. These are some of the issues discussed at Macedonian Defense Minister Lazar Elenovski's meetings with the Romanian authorities during his two-day stay in Bucharest.

"Romania's experience on the path toward NATO membership will be very beneficial for Macedonia. We talked about training of the Macedonian officers. As member of both the EU and NATO, our vote in these two organizations is important for Macedonia. We talked about membership in NATO now and we will support you. I think that your expectations are more important for you. Your expectations must correspond with the results in the transformation. I believe that the Defense Ministry's leadership and the Government's resolve can take Macedonia to NATO in year 2008. It depends on you. After Riga, everything depends on you," Romanian Defense Minister Sorin Frunzaverde said after the meeting with Elenovski.
