PPD WITHDRAWS FROM ASSEMBLY, BDI TO FOLLOW SUIT ON 29 JANUARY

Why should BDI remain in the Assembly if the Government does not observe the Constitution and the Badinter principle and if it derogates the institutions, BDI Deputy Chairwoman Teuta Arifi said. This is the argument that BDI leader Ali Ahmeti will use to convince the international community representatives that the BDI Central Presidency's decision to withdraw from the Assembly is right.

BDI will "fight" its chief battle with the diplomats this week considering that, as a senior party official said, the party entered the Assembly at their insistence. Now BDI will have to convince them that "nothing" had been achieved in the Assembly over the last six months. Arifi said that the chances of the international community representatives dissuading them from withdrawing from the Assembly are small.

The BDI Presidency's decision will be valid if it is confirmed by the Central Committee. BDI's coalition partner PPD is boycotting the Assembly as of yesterday. Parliamentarian Safet Neziri confirmed that they would not participate in the Assembly's work and he said that they would return if a dialogue is established with the Government. He said that they coordinated their decision with BDI. BDI's Xhevat Ademi confirmed that they would start their boycott on Monday (29 January).
