German Chancellor Angela Merkel praised the progress of Macedonia, Croatia, and the other countries in the region at the opening of the international conference on security in Munich on Saturday. She called on the international community, especially the EU, to demonstrate bigger responsibility for these countries so that "we do not retrogress".
"The international community is responsible for Macedonia, Croatia, Montenegro, and especially for Kosovo and Serbia. We should move forward. We must not start to retrogress again. I think that Europe can help here much more than NATO. If Serbia and Kosovo want to advance toward the European Union, they should be careful about the path that they will choose," Merkel stressed.
