Martti Ahtisaari's plan is a good basis for resolving of the status of Kosovo, which is especially important for securing peace and stability in the region, Macedonian President Branko Crvenkovski assessed following the meeting with Albanian President Alfred Moisiu.
"The issue of the status of Kosovo is not a problem of the Albanians only; it is a problem of the whole region. It is well known that independence is the only resolution for Kosovo," Moisiu said.
Sources from President Crvenkovski's Office said that Moisiu and Crvenkovski expressed mutual satisfaction with the high level of friendly relations and bilateral cooperation between the two countries. The two presidents also expressed satisfaction with Macedonia and Albania's progress in the process for membership in NATO, as well as their mutual cooperation in the Adriatic group. They also stressed that they expect the two countries to receive an invitation for membership at the next NATO summit. Crvenkovski and Moisiu agreed that Macedonia and Albania should invest additional efforts to implement the reforms.
