"There is no change in US's position on the Republic of Macedonia. We recognize your constitutional name and this will not change," US Ambassador to Macedonia Gillian Milovanovic stressed, responding to a journalist question on whether Washington is changing its position on the name following the inclusion of the abbreviation FYROM in the resolution adopted by the Senate. "If there are Congress members and Senate members who say that you should join NATO, this is good, because in the end, the Senate will vote to your advantage. As regards the US Government and Administration, there are no changes with regards to Macedonia and there will be no changes as regards the name. There is no reason for you to be concerned about this issue," Milovanovic stressed.

"You must bear in mind that you must satisfy the standards required of you by NATO. This means that, besides a modern and secure defense, which you have been building very successfully, you must also establish a free and democratic society, a Constitution that will function well, and reforms that will be implemented," the US ambassador said.
