EU Commissioner for Expansion Olli Rehn said in the European Parliament today that the term FYROM is awkward, MIA reports.
"The Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia is a candidate country and I hope that the bilateral problem between this country and Greece will be resolved soon so that we do not use this awkward name anymore," Rehn said.
This statement of Rehn was a response to a question by one EU parliamentarian, who said, jokingly, that instead of being called FYROM, Macedonia could be called "Future European Republic of Macedonia".
